Banksia House, Casuarina
Architect : Aphora Architecture (@_aphora)
Year : 2020
Photography : Andy Macpherson (@andymacpherson.studio)
Drawing inspiration from the Banksia Integrifolia native to the site, the house responds to the challenges of living against the East coast of Australia. A robust, yet environmentally and economically focussed building, Banksia House emphasises the importance of custodianship through a heightened connection to ‘place’.
Caribou was so proud to partner with Andrew at Aphora to develop and realise the lighting outcomes. Utilising copper with the vision to seeing the living material change over time, we were able to incorporate this into our custom linear pendant, OCHRE. Along with the SNEAKY ceiling lights and the fully custom WEDGE wall light in full natural copper.
A tremendous project for both the clients and the Architect, which is why there was no suprise that Aphora collected House of the Year (Gold Coast & Northern Rivers – 2022).
