This Dutton Park Residence project, designed by Big House Little House, is a masterful exploration of how light can define and enhance a living space, both inside and out. The design meticulously layers different lighting techniques to create a dynamic and inviting atmosphere, transforming the home from day to night. The lighting strategy isn’t just about illumination; it’s about crafting an experience, highlighting architectural features, and extending the home’s usability well after sunset.

One of the project’s key successes is the seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces, largely achieved through thoughtful lighting. The large glass doors blur the lines between the interior and the patio, a connection that is reinforced by the consistent warm light temperature. The patio area itself, with its overhead lighting, feels like a natural extension of the home’s living space, making it a perfect spot for dining and entertaining. This integration is crucial in a climate where outdoor living is a significant part of the lifestyle. Inspired by the glamour and grace of globally recognised boutique hotels, and built by award winning builder Mactech Constructions, this uniquely modern Main River masterpiece is set on 673m of prime riverfront land in arguably one of the Gold Coasts most in demand suburbs.

Caribou Lighting was the exclusive solutions provide for the architectural lighting for this majestic home. Architectural lighting goes beyond simply illuminating a space; it is an art form that accentuates the architectural beauty and unique design elements of the home. When thoughtfully incorporated, it can transform a house into a warm, inviting, and visually striking living environment.

Gold Coast’s architecturally designed homes often boast unique features like high ceilings, open floor plans, and impressive facades. Strategic lighting can accentuate these features, making them the focal points of the home. Cove lighting, for instance, can draw attention to stunning ceiling designs, while wall-washing techniques can emphasise textured walls or artwork.
